Sketches and developing my ideas for Major Project - Early stages of development

Here are time-lapse video recordings of sketching out my ideas and developing them. They are only early stages of development and do not include further work I have done afterwards. My projects are almost finished right now and these materials show what I have done up to the certain moment of my project's development.

Here is my development process of creating leather jacket with street style inspired graffiti marks on it as well as brown pants that are created out of stiff, workwear like fabric. I ended up changing the length of the jacket as well as jerking the bottom part of the pants as you can see in the video. It is meant to represent street style clothing that has some depth to it and stands behind bigger idea which in this particular collection is industrial design. Elements such as red leather and stiff pants relate to this theme.

The next project includes smooth shirt with gathering and also gathered, wide pants. Shirt has puffy sleeves and long fit, where pants have double balloon shape. This shirt relates to office workers and their elegant way of wearing clothing. In the further development of this idea, it gets much more interesting features such as colours and graphics that give this look more character and back story necessary for understanding it as a deeper idea.

This look focuses on knitwear and wide pants. Cardigan with super long sleeves and one large button overlaps wide pants that are slimmed at the bottom with a band. This look ended up being developed a lot later but the main idea is to create this really cosy and oversized piece that relates to every home, warm atmosphere.

In this look my goal was to create beautiful winter coat. I have also sketched long, wide pants for this fit. I wanted to incorporate industrial style elements into this coat which you can see at the end of the video. The shape of the coat is the final version of it and includes stairs like shape as a element of the design as well as leather elements and blanket with check.

This is the look I spent probably the most time on because of shading of the pants I had to redo multiple times to be satisfied with the outcome. This fit includes super wide pants with paint cracks on them and green decorative fabric wrapped around it for visual effect. White, oversized shirt is being developed more in the further work time.

In the last look, there are wide, double balloon pants from the previous looks, heavyweight shirt and ragged sweater. It is meant to collate perfect pressed shirt with half-destroyed sweater and pants that are in the process of  jerking. It is the visual representation of industrial style interiors where half destroyed walls are pairing beautifully with new, modern furniture and art.

Here is the colour palette at the early stage of development. Some of the greys ended up being not used for this project at all.

  1. Good process shown here for each outfit well done - however i do think you need to discus the technical aspect of the tools you used on the software
